]]>This time we choose to review our most favourite beer from the Dutch brewery Hertog Jan; Grand Prestige.
This beer is brewed with up to four different malts and it can also be described as a barley wine. The beer contains the flavour of caramel and roasted malt and it has a beautiful bitter aftertaste. This beer is full and complex and it has a deep reddish colour. The alcohol percentage is 10%.
We received this beer from friends on the 8th of February 2019 and the beer itself is from 2018. The brewery states that this beer will even get a more balanced flavour after it has been kept for several years. Therefore we decided to keep it for another year to see what this does to the taste. We drank it on the 10th of April 2020 and the taste is quite similar to an old port wine. It tasted even more bitter and you could now really taste the roasted malt. We truly loved it!
We rate it a 4.5/5. Cheers!

]]>Today’s beer review is about another amazing beer from Breugem the Heet & Stout. This was the second beer we drank from our beer box.
We weren’t quite sure what to expect from this beer except that it’s a stout and probably spicy. Well we weren’t wrong. The first sip we took overwhelmed us with the different flavours. As someone who loves unique beers, this one is definitely a must try.
We were so impressed by the flavour of the beer that we rated it a 9 out of 10! As we are used to the design is on point. Red colour to indicate it’s spicy ingredient with the small pepers above the “Zaanse sambal”. An 8 out of 10.
For our beer enthusiast:
Mout: Maris Otter Pale Ale, Brown, Black, Crystal
Hop: Willamette, Marynka
Gist: Lallemand London Divers: tinctuur obv wodka 50% met gerookte pepers, Habanero, Naga Jolokia en rode chili
Bitterheid: 42 EBU
Alcoholpercentage: 8%
Once again a beautifull and unique beer of the brewers of Brouwerij Breugem.
Cheers!

]]>Breugem might be our new favourite brewery with their amazing selection of beers.
We were lucky to get a box (yes a box) full of their beers. So we thought it is time to start drinking and reviewing the beers, starting with the Kracht Hout. The description of the beer on their site is: “A powerful quadrupel with Palo Santo wood. Patrick Breugem and Derek Walsh have taken on the challenge of adding this unique wood to this beer. The result is a prize-winning beer! Gold in the “Innovation Special, Wood-bearing” category, Dutch Beer Challenge 2017″. We could definitly taste why it won prices. The flavour is quite complex due to the Palo Santo- wood. It contains the taste of caramel, vanilla and coconut and it has an alcohol percentage of 11%. It is truly delicious to drink!
The bitterness is: 28 EBU (European Bitternes Unit).
These ingredients combined with the beer crafting (art) skills of Breugem created this masterpiece. We loved it so much we give it a 9 for the flavour!
Not only the flavour is incredible, you can also see they have put a lot of effort in the design of the bottle. It’s clean, referencing to the location of the brewery (the Zaan) and it has a colour scheme which fits the name (‘hout’ dutch for ‘wood’). Therefore we would like to give the design of the bottle a 8.5.
We can’t wait to drink the rest of the beers and give you a Honest Review!
