After drinking the special edition beer of brewery De Dochter van de Korenaar (which was the ‘L ensemble di Montalcino), we got very enthusiastic about this brewery.
We therefore were very lucky to also receive a beautiful beer box from this brewery.

The first beer that we tried was the De Dochter van de Korenaar Embrasse. This is an intens heavy dark beer with an alcoholpercentage of 9%. The beer contains tones of coffee, chocolate and subtropical fruits. We absolutely smelled the tones of coffee in this beer while drinking it and the tones of coffee and chocolate were very present in the flavour as well. Furthermore, it had a fruity and slightly bitter aftertaste.

It was a complex beer with a delicious taste and therefore we rate this beer a 4,5/5.

Recently, we decided to order two bagels at Bagels & Beans since we were really graving for some lunch.
We hadn’t eaten at Bagels & Beans since last summer due to the pandemic. Therefore we were very happy that we were able to order through takeaway.

Martha Brown Eyes – Beer review

Our Belgian beer box contained a wide variety of beers. One of them was from the Brew Society and is called the Martha Brown Eyes (12%). It is a strong dark beer in quadrupple style with secondary fermentation in the bottle. It is inspired by the best beers from the Belgian Trappist brewers.

The first taste impression was of marzipan and coffee flavour. It was quite hard to put a finger on it’s flavour but the brewers website helped out a lot. A pleasant fruity notes of apple, candied pear, ripe strawberry and cherries with a slightly spicy touch of anise, liqourice, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Drinking this beer and with these flavours in mind you can definitly say the description is accurate. The anise, liqourice and caramel are more present then the fruits but if you take a good sip you will notice the rest of the flavours.
We loved the beer and its unique strong flavour. If we ever come acrose this beer again we will most definitly bring it back home!
