  • Martha Brown Eyes - Bottle

Our Belgian beer box contained a wide variety of beers. One of them was from the Brew Society and is called the Martha Brown Eyes (12%). It is a strong dark beer in quadrupple style with secondary fermentation in the bottle. It is inspired by the best beers from the Belgian Trappist brewers.

The first taste impression was of marzipan and coffee flavour. It was quite hard to put a finger on it’s flavour but the brewers website helped out a lot. A pleasant fruity notes of apple, candied pear, ripe strawberry and cherries with a slightly spicy touch of anise, liqourice, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Drinking this beer and with these flavours in mind you can definitly say the description is accurate. The anise, liqourice and caramel are more present then the fruits but if you take a good sip you will notice the rest of the flavours.
We loved the beer and its unique strong flavour. If we ever come acrose this beer again we will most definitly bring it back home!

Let us know if you have ever tried the Martha Brown Eyes or any of their beers?

  • Breugem Lente Kus

The new spring beer of Breugem is a fresh copper coloured bock beer with a alcohol percentage of 7,3%. It is a traditional spring bock beer with a soft aroma. ❤ We have worked with Breugem for quite some time now and we are therefore able to present you, as one of the first this year, our review of the Lente Kus (Spring Kiss)!

The official launch of the Lente Kus is this Thursday the 20th of February!

The two of us shared this beer on a Vis a Vis Netflix date night. We loved it! The flavour and aroma fits perfectly together. The beer has a wonderful fresh taste which makes it easy to drink. Our glass was empty in no time!
The label of the beer is also on point. It shows for example a lamb and tulips which really fits the theme of spring.

Information about Lente Kus:
– Malt: Munich, Pilsner, Cara Pils en Zuur
– Hop: Hallertau Magnum, Saphir en Perle
– Bitterness: 26 EBU
– Alcohol percentage: 7,3%

We definitely recommend this beer to all the beer lovers who would like to taste a fresh, easy and slightly bitter beer! ❤

Voorschoten Pale Ale from Brouwerij Voorschoten

Last weekend we had the opportunity to drink a beer from a small, local brewery (Brouwerij Voorschoten) near our hometown Leiden. ❤
We came across this brewery during a daily scroll through our Instagram feed. When we saw this beer, we were directly attracted by message of the beer and the passion of the brewer. Once again, we found a unique combination of flavours.

The Voorschootse Pale Ale (5,5%) is an American Pale Ale. The beer is ideal for the summer with its amber colour, malty body and subtle bitterness with a pleasant fresh citrus taste. The flavour surprised us positively, which left us to base our score on the match of the suprise effect with its flavours. We where long in doubt about the score, but we decided to give it a 7.5. The score is based on the fact that we would recommend this beer and that we definitely liked the taste of it. ❤

The score for the design is based upon the changes from the old beer design and it’s ability to distinguish from other beers we have drank and reviewed before. If we would describe the design, it would be a standard design for the beers from this brewery, but with a facelift. Since the facelift is a step into the right direction, we would love to see a more unique and special eye-catching design. Therefore, we give the design a 6,5. Keep evolving the design, you’re heading in the right direction! Feel free to follow @brouwerijvoorschoten and try their beers! They just started this brewery and they have some very promising beers!
