  • Sushi mix beautifull - Asian Cuisine Shizen Den Bosch

After our amazing trip to Maastricht, we decided to make a stop at Den Bosch on our way to Leiden.
We found this beautiful restaurant Shizen Asian Cuisine online and we decided to make a reservation. Since the one at Hofplein was already fully booked, we tried to make a reservation at the one at the Vijverlaan. Luckily they had a table left for us and they told us that it was actually their opening day.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were directly impressed by the wonderful interior. Everything was brand new and it looked absolutely outstanding!
We sat down at a table near the window where we had a good overview of the restaurant. We decided to go for the regular all-you-can-eat dinner menu and we were happily surprised by all the options that we got to choose from.

They serve more than 90 high quality original fusion, sushi and grill dishes (!!). The sushi and all the other dishes tasted incredible and it was definitely one of the best dinner experiences that we ever had before. The waiters in this restaurant are very kind, professional and hardworking and you will receive your chosen dishes within a decent amount of time.

Therefore, we would absolutely like to visit this restaurant again and we recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes the Asian cuisine at its best!

We have partnered up with Brouwerij Breugem since august 2019 and we have reviewed almost all of their beers. But who are the people behind Breugem? First of all, we have Patrick Breugem. He is the founder and owner of the brewery. Together with Ernst (shareholder) and Marcel (Beer connoisseur/accountmanager) they create all different sorts of amazing beers.

During the pandemic, sales declined eventhough retail and liquor stores stayed open. The deliveries to restaurants and cafés stopped, so Breugem and his team had to use their creativity to overcome the decline in sales.
Breugem now offers a special beer box with beers from breugem. Also, you can buy special boxes with food and drinks from local partners. In this way, you can enjoy your beer with matching snacks.
They also changed the appearance of their flagship beer ‘Zoentje’ by selling it in a can instead of a bottle.
Moreover, the most important change is the new online webshop at brouwerijbreugem.nl.

Futheremore, the brewery sees, as a positive effect of COVID-19, a lot more people drinking beers at home and sharing their opinions via platforms like Untappd. They rate the beers and give an explanation why they gave their rating. Because of this, the bond between the brewery and the customer has been strengthened since they now have the opportunity to interact more with their customers then before.

It is also possible to follow this brewery on their Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn page and you can sign up to their monthly newsletter via their website! We will keep reviewing their beers so make sure you follow Breugem so you can stay up to date with the latest beer developments and special offers!

We love their work and we think you will too!

The Asian White is a wheatricebeer with freshly grated Galanga root (a plant close to ginger) and Djeroek Poeroet (lime leaves).
This beer is a typical summer beer, since it has a low alcoholpercentage and because it has a very fresh and citrusy flavour.
This beer won silver in the category of “White Beer with extra ingredients, Beer with Spices”, Kraft Roku 2017.

Information about the beer:

Hops: Cascade
Various: Laos root en Djeroek Poeroet

  • Breugem Seanse Tripel poured in a glass

This week we drank a very special beer from brewery Breugem which owes it’s name to a specific region in the Netherlands : “de Zaan”.
The Saense Tripel is full of aromas of herbs from the yeast and it has a fresh citrus-like character from a mixture of American and German hops.
It is an intense and complex Dutch tripel and it is a very easy beer to drink. This beer won the third prize of the tastiest Tripel at the Beer festival in Groningen in 2016.

Ingredients of the beer:
– Malt: Pils and CaraPils Hops: Hallertau Tradition, Lublin, Centennial and Citra.
– Other ingredients: Barley flakes and candy sugar
– Bitterness: 32 EBU, which means that it is a bitter beer.
– Alcohol percentage: 8.3%

We were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the beer. It tasted exceptionally good! This is definitely one of the best beers that we drank from this brewery! Therefore we would absolutely recommend this beer

  • Chicken sandwich at Proeflokaal Mimi

One day I was working from home and I just really needed to go out and do something else. I needed to empty my head so I could focus again. Therefore we decided that it was a good idea to go for lunch. We searched on Google and we typed in “lunch” and one of the first suggestions was Proeflokaal Mimi in Voorschoten. It looked very appealing and modern so we jumped in the car and went over to Mimi.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were amazed by the looks and design of the place. It was beautiful and cozy with plenty of space and creative seating areas.
We were directly greeted by a professional waitress and we sat down at a comfy sofa seat. We ordered some sweet potato fries, Mimi’s chickie and Avocado sandwich. I didn’t know what to expect from the chickie, except it contained chicken. The sandwich tasted really good. I truly loved it! The Avocado sandwich was very flavorful and delicious and the sweet potato fries were also super tasty with a fresh dip on the side. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly and the food was served pretty fast.

We had a great experience in this restaurant and therefore we recommend this to everyone who is up for cozy lunch/diner.

  • Breugem Lente Kus

The new spring beer of Breugem is a fresh copper coloured bock beer with a alcohol percentage of 7,3%. It is a traditional spring bock beer with a soft aroma. ❤ We have worked with Breugem for quite some time now and we are therefore able to present you, as one of the first this year, our review of the Lente Kus (Spring Kiss)!

The official launch of the Lente Kus is this Thursday the 20th of February!

The two of us shared this beer on a Vis a Vis Netflix date night. We loved it! The flavour and aroma fits perfectly together. The beer has a wonderful fresh taste which makes it easy to drink. Our glass was empty in no time!
The label of the beer is also on point. It shows for example a lamb and tulips which really fits the theme of spring.

Information about Lente Kus:
– Malt: Munich, Pilsner, Cara Pils en Zuur
– Hop: Hallertau Magnum, Saphir en Perle
– Bitterness: 26 EBU
– Alcohol percentage: 7,3%

We definitely recommend this beer to all the beer lovers who would like to taste a fresh, easy and slightly bitter beer! ❤
