We hadn't eaten at Bagels & Beans since last summer due to the pandemic. Therefore we were very happy that we were able to order through takeaway.

]]>When we were on our way home from our citytrip to Den Bosch, we decided to make a stop in Vleuten at D’Amici.
D’Amici is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria and they cook according to Italian traditions and hospitality.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greated and seated by the owner of the restaurant. We got a nice spot with a good overview of the kitchen and we directly received some bread with dip on our table.
We decided to order the pizza Quattro Formaggi and the Diavolo.
The pizza Quattro Formaggi tasted very good but the small pieces of spicy salami on the Diavolo were a bit disappointing. Because the pieces where so small, it rather tasted like a pizza Margaritha.
Furthermore, the service was unfortunately very bad. Even tough it wasn’t very busy, we had to wait for a very long time to order something or to get our bill.
This was a bit frustrating to us since we tried to get anyones attention all the time but without succes.
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant since the pizzas weren’t that fantastic and because we were very disappointed by the service that we received.

]]>During the The Hague Cocktailweek 2020, we visited restaurant Basaal for the Summer Dreamin’ Cocktail Supper, a 6-course dinner with matching cocktails.
Restaurant Basaal is located at the Dunne Bierkade in the citycentre of The Hague and they offer a wide variety of international dishes.
We attended the Summer Dreamin’ Cocktail Supper and the first dish was steak tartare from pumpkin with caviar and beetroot.
To match the flavours of our first course, we received a Moscow Mule with Van Kleef orangebitter, vodka and gingerbeer.
Our second course was a pike-perch fish cake with anchovies, olives and tomato. We received this course together with a Belsazar Fizz cocktail which contained Vermouth/D’Alsace.
The main course was wild duck with celery, stew and chives which tasted absolutely delicious! The Gin & Tonic from Nádar gin en verveine perfectly matched this dish by enhancing the flavour of the duck.
The fourth course was a small course which contained a crayfish croquet and sangria with medium sherry.
Finally, we received a pistache cake with crimson pear and white chocolate ice as a dessert. We also got a Strawberry Margarita with Patrón tequila and an Espresso Martini.
We had an wonderful evening and we enjoyed all the food and drinks that we received. The service was great and the food was beautifully prepared and very delicious. If this event will be offered next year during the cocktailweek at restaurant Basaal, we would certainly like to revisit this restaurant again!

]]>When the restaurants where still open (it already seems like such a long time since we are in a semi-lockdown again) we visited M’EAT Bar & Grill & Tappunt.
These restaurants started to work together since COVID-19 and we reserved a table at M’EAT. These restaurants are located in Den Bosch and we visited them during our citytrip last September.
We started our evening with a Valse Trippel from the extensive beermenu of Tappunt and some bread with dip. The bread was served in a cute bag and the dips tasted amazing! As a main course, we ordered the Bavette and the M’EAT Hamburger. Both were prepared on the Big Green Egg which gave the meat a beautiful smoky taste. Both of the dishes were very tasty and delicious and we were super happy and satisfied with them. Furthermore, we ordered a St. Bernardus Abt 12, Ons Blackie Imperial Stout and another Valse Trippel since we absolutely loved this beer.
The staff was very kind and funny and we certainly had an wonderful evening here. We would definitely revisit this restaurant when we are in Den Bosch again.
Therefore, we would like to recommended this restaurant to everyone who loves beer and a good piece of M’EAT.

]]>During our citytrip in The Hague (or Den Haag in Dutch), we visited Italian restaurant Fratelli on our last evening. Restaurant Fratelli offers a rich variety of regional dishes from all over Italy. Therefore, the restaurant not only serves pizzas and pasta but also meat and fish dishes.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were directly greeted by a waitress who took us to our seat in a cozy corner of the restaurant. We direclty ordered a glass of white wine and we decided to go for the Carpaccio Di Manzo as a starter.
The carpaccio tasted absolutely wonderful and it was one of the better carpaccios we have eaten.The slices were very thin and with the Parmesan cheese it tasted amazing.
Furthermore, we ordered the Tagliolini Al Tartufo Nero which was a dish made of fresh Tagliolini pasta with truffel. This dish was very special since it was prepared at our table in a big Parmesan cheese.
The pasta was incredibly tasty and it had a wonderful flavour. Moreover, you get a decent portion of pasta for the price you pay for it as well.
The waiters in the restaurant were very kind and did their job well but the service was not anything really special. We had a great last evening in The Hague in this restaurant and therefore this restaurant is certainly recommended. Especially the Tagliolini Al Tartufo Nero is an absolute must try!

]]>Recently, we visited this beautiful restaurant Logica Leiden which is located in a monumental building at a canal in Leiden.
This restaurant is specialised in vegetarian and vegan food and it mainly uses pure and seasonal products that are organic, healthy, responsible and very tasty!
We visited this restaurant in the afternoon since we were looking for a place to go for lunch. We took a cozy seat on the window site and we decided to first order a cappuccino and a café latte.
Hereafter we ordered the pumpkin hummus sandwhich and a sandwhich with brie. Both of them tasted delicious and they looked incredible as well.
Furthermore, we ordered a small snack on the side which were some cheese croquettes (or ‘kaas kroketjes’ in Dutch). We finished these ones in no time since they were super tasty. Finally, we ordered two latte macchiatos which tasted very nice too.
The waitresses in the restaurant were very kind and we received most of our food and drinks within a decent amount of time. We only had to wait for quite some time for someone to bring our last coffee, but the overall experience of this restaurant was great! Therefore, we absolutely recommended this restaurant
(P.S. this restaurant offers a new menu each season. Therefore, it is highly probable that they now have a different menu then when we visited it)

]]>We visited Café In den Ouden Vogelstruys on our first day in Maastricht. This café is one of the oldest cafés in the Netherlands and iconic for Maastricht.
The café is situated at the famous Vrijthof and they have a beautiful terrace overlooking this square.
Since it was quite hot that day, we decided to take a seat in the shadow. We first ordered a Coca Cola and a homemade ice tea (which tasted delicious). Thereafter we ordered a baguette with salmon and a baquette with Dutch “kroketten”.
The baguette with salmon had quite a lot of salmon on it which tasted very appetizing. Moreover, the capers and nuts tasted amazing in combination with the salmon.
The baquette with the Dutch kroketten was also very tasy. The croquettes were of good quality and the salad on the side also tasted really nice.
We definitely had enjoyable afternoon at this restaurant and the waiters were all very relaxed and kind. Since it was quite busy on the terrace, we had to wait sometimes for somebody to take our order. However, this was not a problem to us. If you’re in the area of the Vrijthof, then this is absolutely a great place to go for lunch.
