De Royale Martinus is another beer from brewery Stadsbrouwerij de Maastrichter Maltezer and its name refers to the St.Martinus church in Maastricht. St.Martin was the patron saint of the poor and soldiers.

De Royale Martinus is a hoppy blond beer with an alcoholpercentage of 5,4%. It is quite a sweet beer with a fresh and bitter aftertaste. Furthermore, the flavours of citrus and yellow exotic fruit are well presented in this beer. We already drank this beer during our tour through the brewery in July and since we really liked this beer, we decided to take one bottle home.
We were again happily surprised by the taste of this beer since we really loved the citrusy and bitter flavour.
However, we have to mention that, after drinking ‘De Maltezer’ before this one, this one was a bit disappointing to us. We preferred the taste of De Maltezer over this one but is it is still a good beer to drink.
Therefore we rate this beer a 3,5/5.

While being on our citytrip in Maastricht, we did a tour through a local brewery named: ‘De Maastrichter Maltezer. During this tour, we got the chance to taste ‘De Maltezer’. We absolutely loved the flavour of this beer and therefore we decided to buy it.

De Maltezer is the flagship beer of the brewery and it has an alcoholpercentage of 6,5%. It is a Dortmunder style, amber-coloured beer with a slightly fruity taste.
We definitely liked the malt-sweet character of this beer and we could also taste some tones of caramel. It also has a slightly bitter aftertaste which makes it a easy beer to drink. The beer absolutely has an unique flavour which we hadn’t experienced before since it tasted quite sweet.
We would certainly buy this beer again and therefore we rate this beer a 4,5/5.

Pareltje aan de Vliet is another gem of brewery Cavé with an alcoholpercentage of 5,3%. This beer is named after the nickname of the village Voorschoten which is ‘Parel aan de Vliet’.
The village got this name because it is a village with a long history, many monumental buildings, beautiful country estates and a annual horsemarket.

Pareltje aan de Vliet is an American Pale Ale (APA) with notes of citrus. It also has a fresh aftertaste which makes it a beautiful beer to drink in the summer.
We actually drank this beer in the pool in our garden on a beautiful sunny day and we absolutely loved it! ❤ It is quite a bitter beer, but the fruity smell and taste makes it an easy beer to drink. Especially on a warm day. Therefore we rate this beer a 4/5.

Brewery Cavé is a local brewery from Voorschoten and they brew beautiful craft beers. The Paapje Tripel is named after ‘de Papenlaan’ and ‘de Papewegse Polder’ which are located in Voorschoten. This beer is easy to drink due to its smooth taste and it has a slightly bitter aftertaste. You definitely taste the flavour of hop in this beer and because it has has citrusy character, it also tasted quite spicy.

We absolutely loved it! Therefore we rate this beer a 4/5.

We have partnered up with Brouwerij Breugem since august 2019 and we have reviewed almost all of their beers. But who are the people behind Breugem? First of all, we have Patrick Breugem. He is the founder and owner of the brewery. Together with Ernst (shareholder) and Marcel (Beer connoisseur/accountmanager) they create all different sorts of amazing beers.

During the pandemic, sales declined eventhough retail and liquor stores stayed open. The deliveries to restaurants and cafés stopped, so Breugem and his team had to use their creativity to overcome the decline in sales.
Breugem now offers a special beer box with beers from breugem. Also, you can buy special boxes with food and drinks from local partners. In this way, you can enjoy your beer with matching snacks.
They also changed the appearance of their flagship beer ‘Zoentje’ by selling it in a can instead of a bottle.
Moreover, the most important change is the new online webshop at brouwerijbreugem.nl.

Futheremore, the brewery sees, as a positive effect of COVID-19, a lot more people drinking beers at home and sharing their opinions via platforms like Untappd. They rate the beers and give an explanation why they gave their rating. Because of this, the bond between the brewery and the customer has been strengthened since they now have the opportunity to interact more with their customers then before.

It is also possible to follow this brewery on their Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn page and you can sign up to their monthly newsletter via their website! We will keep reviewing their beers so make sure you follow Breugem so you can stay up to date with the latest beer developments and special offers!

We love their work and we think you will too!

We have drank almost every beer from Brouwerij Breugem except this one.
The Asian White is a wheatricebeer with freshly grated Galanga root (a plant close to ginger) and Djeroek Poeroet (lime leaves).
This beer is a typical summer beer, since it has a low alcoholpercentage and because it has a very fresh and citrusy flavour.
This beer won silver in the category of “White Beer with extra ingredients, Beer with Spices”, Kraft Roku 2017.

Information about the beer:
Malt: Wheat, Pils, Sour and Rice flakes
Hops: Cascade
Various: Laos root en Djeroek Poeroet
Bitterness: 16 EBU which means that the beer has slightly bitter flavour (EBU= European Bitternes Units).
Alcohol percentage: 4,6%

We were surprised by the fresh and balanced flavour of this beer. We truly loved it and we would definitely like to drink this beer again in the future. This beer is absolutely recommended as a wonderful beer to drink on any occasion!

Voorschotens Blond (6,5%) is one of the 3 beers from Brouwerij Voorschoten that we received recently. The Blond is a single hop blonde with a fresh and spicy aftertaste like no other beer!

After the first sip of the beer, we were definitely surprised by its flavour. It was not something we were already familiar with. The taste was quite spicy for a blond beer which was a surprise to us. We liked the taste of the beer, but we have tasted better beers from this brewery like their triple.
Therefore we rate the flavour 7.
The design is actually similar to the old design of the triple from this brewery. Therefore we think that this design could stand out a lot more if it would get an upgrade.
Because of this, we give the design the same score as the triple which was a 6.

In the end, we really liked the beer but we loved the other beers from the brewery a bit more. ❤ But if you are into some unique flavours and spiciness, than this beer is definitely something you should try!

Brouwerij breugem heet en stout review

Today’s beer review is about another amazing beer from Breugem the Heet & Stout. This was the second beer we drank from our beer box. ❤

We weren’t quite sure what to expect from this beer except that it’s a stout and probably spicy. Well we weren’t wrong. The first sip we took overwhelmed us with the different flavours. As someone who loves unique beers, this one is definitely a must try.
We were so impressed by the flavour of the beer that we rated it a 9 out of 10! As we are used to the design is on point. Red colour to indicate it’s spicy ingredient with the small pepers above the “Zaanse sambal”. An 8 out of 10.

For our beer enthusiast:

Mout: Maris Otter Pale Ale, Brown, Black, Crystal
Hop: Willamette, Marynka
Gist: Lallemand London Divers: tinctuur obv wodka 50% met gerookte pepers, Habanero, Naga Jolokia en rode chili
Bitterheid: 42 EBU
Alcoholpercentage: 8%

Once again a beautifull and unique beer of the brewers of Brouwerij Breugem.

Cheers!

Voorschotens Tripel beer

Our previous beer review was about the Pale Ale from a local brewery named Brouwerij Voorschoten. Not only did they provide us the Pale Ale, they provided us with two more beers. One of them is was the Triple which is the subject for our review for today. The Triple (8,4%) was the first beer of the brewery. It has a sweet, fresh and bitter flavour and a beautiful amber colour.

The rich flavour of the beer is delicious and it is a treat to drink this beer. We will definitely drink this beer again!
Therefore we give the flavour a 8/10.

The label of the bottle is an old design and they have already redesigned the bottle. The design was simple but clear. Therefore we give the design a 6/10.

We love the brewery and we are continuing to support them and try out their new beers! ❤

Ay, Ay, Caramba! Brewery Breugem launched their new Mexican Lager and we had the opportunity to be one of the first persons to give it a try!

The Caramba has a low alcohol percentage of 3,5% and is therefore perfect to drink with warm weather. We both loved the beer! ❤ Luckily for us, we were able to drink a few at the launch!
The beer has a fresh and fruity taste which makes it very refreshing to drink. It also hasn’t got a bitter aftertaste which is very nice! Since Ay, Ay, Caramba is now available I would say, go get yourself some bottles and enjoy this beer with some friends (and with a sombrero on your head of course )!
