A 3-course dinner… Yes please!

During our stay at Van der Valk Nuland, we decided to order food from the special menu that the hotel had put together to celebrate Easter. Everything was brought up to our room per course, which made it feel like we were having dinner in a restaurant but then in our own hotel room.

First, we ordered the tomato soup and the beef tataki. The tomato soup tasted creamy and delicious and the beef tataki was very tender. We only would have preferred to receive a bowl for the soup, since the cardboard bowl gave the soup a little bit of an odd flavour. We never tried beef tataki before, but we were pleasantly surprised by its flavour. It tasted fresh, light and it was certainly tasteful!

As our main course, we ordered the seabass and gamba and the pasta pesto. The pesto was homemade which gave the pasta a delicious flavour together with the Parmesan cheese. Also, the mushrooms, arugula and tomatoes matched perfectly with this dish.
The seabass and gamba were also very delicious together with the asparagus. The basil Beurre blanc gave the seabass a unique flavour. The prawns were so tasty that we would have loved to have some more.

For dessert, we chose the fruit sorbet and the lemon meringue pie. The sorbet consisted of strawberry, mango, and vanilla ice cream and of course lots of fruit. The sorbet was huge and tasted amazing! The lemon meringue pie tasted fresh and fruity and was delicious as well.

We would certainly like to go for dinner at Van der Valk Nuland when the restaurant will be open again. But for now, we were very happy with the way they delivered the dinner to our room and we would absolutely like to recommend ordering dinner at this hotel.

The Floreffe Dubbel is a craft beer from the brewery Lefebvre. Brewery Lefebvre is a family-owned brewery and they offer a wide variety of craft beers.

The Floreffe Dubbel is a brown abbeybeer with an alcoholpercentage of 6,3%. It has a dark body and tones of coffee, chocolate and liquorice.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by this beer since it tasted quite watery. We also couldn’t identify the flavours which have been stated above.
Therefore, we can only rate this beer a 2/5.

Celebrate Spring with this Hoppy Weizen

The Voorschotens Hoppy Weizen from brewery Voorschoten is especially made to enjoy those beautiful sunny days in Spring. Because of the extra bunch of hop cones that have been added during the brewing process of this beer, it became a classic Weizen with a special twist

The Mandarin Bavaria hop gave this beer sweet tones of mandarin and fresh tones of citrus. We loved the fresh flavour of this beer and the tones of citrus fruits were cleary present. The beer had a quite a strong bitter aftertaste but we did not found this disturbing at all. It is a delicious Spring- but actually also Summer beer with a fresh malty/citrusy scent and taste.

We thought it actually tasted more like an IPA due to the bitterness of this beer. But we were very enthusiastic about its delicious flavour and we would certainly like to drink this beer again. Therefore, we rate this beer a 4/5.

The Zaailander Boekweit Blond (5%) is a beer brewed by hotel In de Brouwerij. This beer has been brewed according to an old recipes from the time that oats and buckwheat were characteristic ingredients in Dutch beer.

The beer tasted nice and fresh and had a delicious bitter aftertaste. We especially could taste the notes of buckwheat and oats and the beer especially smelled fresh and sweet due to the addition of these oats.
Also, the beer had a persisent foam head and quite a cloudy colour. It was not a very heavy beer to drink and we were happily surprised by the flavour of this beer.
Therefore, we rate this beer a 3,5/5.

We can’t wait for the brewery to expand their line up so we can try them all.

Elfique Triple Blonde is the third beer that we drank from our beer box from this brewery. It is was certainly a blond beer character!

This beer has fruity and spicy notes and a dark blond colour with an alcoholpercentage of 8% which made it an easy beer to drink. Furthermore, it is not a very bitter beer and we loved its hoppy character. We were also very pleased by its spicy/hoppy smell which made it a very pleasant beer to drink. The only con of this beer was that the foam quickly disappeared after we poured it. Therefore, we rate this beer 3,7/5.

The Tilburgse Heer Barrel Aged (BA) is a tripel from Stadsbrouwerij 013 which is a local brewery from Tilburg. The lords of Tilburg frequently used the castle to enjoy the tastiest beers there. This tripel is certainly one of them.

The beer has matured in Miltonduff Whiskey barrels and it is a full blond beer with a malty character. Furthermore, it has an alcoholpercentage of 8% and it has a strong smell of whiskey. We did tasted the tones of whiskey in this beer, but it was not extremely present. It is also quite an easy beer to drink and it has a beautiful golden colour.
The beer has a bitter aftertaste and we also experienced lots of carbon dioxide in the beer and inside the bottle. It also had a beautiful foamy head which stayed on the beer for a long time which was great!
We absolutely loved this BA and we would certainly like to drink this beer again. Therefore, we rate this beer a 4,2/5.

The Emelisse White Label 2020 Decadence Belize Rum BA is another masterpiece of brewery Emelisse.

This beer has matured in Belize Rum barrels and it is characterized by its sweet and full taste. Due to the use of pecan and nougat and the sweetness from the Belize Rum, this beer has a beautifully balanced flavour.
We absolutely loved the sweet smell of the beer and especially notes of nougat are present. The taste mainly consisted of the rum but we also tasted some mokka and chocolate in there.
The alcoholpercentage is 12,4% which made it quite a heavy beer to drink but we were happily surprised by its sweet taste.
Therefore, we rate this beer a 4,3/5

Recently, we decided to order two bagels at Bagels & Beans since we were really graving for some lunch.
We hadn’t eaten at Bagels & Beans since last summer due to the pandemic. Therefore we were very happy that we were able to order through takeaway.

We ordered the sourdough bagel with wild salmon and the whole grain bagel with avocado. The bagel with salmon is one of our favourites and it tasted (again) very delicious! The whole grain bagel with avocado, tomato, lettuce and creamcheese with chives was also very tasty.
We were also very glad that both of the bagels were already made with all the ingredients on it. The last time that we ate at Bagels & Beans, we had to put the capers, onions and creamcheese ourselves on the wild salmon bagel. This was a little bit difficult to do so and we were therefore very happy with how we received it through takeaway.

We absolutely recommend anyone to order your bagels from Bagels & Beans via takeaway since they deliver fast and their bagels are delicious!

The next beer that we tried from the Belgian brewery De Dochter van de Korenaar was the Charbon. We are a big fan of stouts so we were very excited to try this beer from this brewery.

De Dochter van de Korenaar Charbon is a classic dry stout with an alcoholpercentage of 7%. It has been brewed with smoked wheat malt and it is flavoured with fresh vanilla. The first sip of the beer tasted mild with some vanilla. After that, it became a strong stout with a taste that stays in your mouth for a while.
It wasn’t a very difficult stout to drink and it tasted absolutely delicious! This beer is certainly one of the best stouts that we have drank before and the smoky smell definitely appealed to us.
Therefore, we rate this beer a 5/5.

For our 5 year anniversary, we decided to book a room at Best Western City Centre Hotel in Den Bosch.
We booked the Deluxe Room and when we arrived at the hotel, I (Demi) was surprised by Nick with a super romantic room with heart balloons, a bottle of prosecco and other decorations. This was already an amazing start of our citytrip to Den Bosch.

The staff in the hotel was absolutely wonderful and very friendly. They even congratulated us with our anniversary and they were very helpful as well. The breakfast in the hotel was a buffet with a large assortiment of bread, cheese, eggs etc. The only thing which was a bit disappointing was that the coffee machine wasn’t working properly during our whole stay.
Furthermore, the room was very beautiful and included modern facilities such as a touchscreen for setting the do not disturb sign and putting the lights on and off.
We also had a rainshower (with a touchscreen as well ) which was absolutely great! We slept very well in the bed and we had an lovely stay in this hotel.

The staff, the breakfast and the room were amazing and we would certainly like to revisit this hotel again in the future. Therefore, we definitely recommend this hotel!
